In 2008 Rukka offered the first rider's suit made of a ground-breaking new leather-3-layer-laminate by W.L. Gore. The material is a laminated combination of high-quality, hydrophobic bovine leather, a water- and windproof as well as highly breathable Gore-Tex Pro Shell climate membrane and a lightweight polyamide-based lining. The innovative material mix boasts high abrasion resistance and, thus, excellent protection capability. Due to the fix connection with the Gore-Tex Pro Shell membrane and the leather's hydrophobic properties, the leather absorbs only a minimal quantity of water in precipitation - effectively preventing the rider from cooling out. Plus, the 3-layer-lamination boosts the apparel's breathability and significantly shortens its drying time. Owing to the revolutionary material, the two-piece Rukka suit “Lancelot” constitutes a perfect synergy of ideal active and passive safety. The leather layer's perforation all the more enhances the breathability. Breathable CE-protectors safeguard the biker's shoulders, elbows/forearms, back, hips and knees.

Rukka launches the new Gore-Tex leather touring suit “Merlin“ With “Merlin“, Rukka offers a second waterproof riding suit made of Gore's innovative Pro Shell Gore-Tex leather laminate which has been creating a stir with the media and buyers alike. The new touring suit is the latest expansion of Rukka's “All Weather“ range of leather suits. Combining the abrasion resistance of high-quality leather with the comfort and active safety of a wind- and waterproof Gore-Tex and fabric riding suit, Gore has created a truly revolutionary new material with its new Pro Shell leather laminate. The new type of laminate is made of hydrophobic, 1.2 mm Bovino leather, a “Gore-Tex Pro Shell” membrane and one or two layers of a light protective fabric, a design ensuring it is absolutely wind- and waterproof as well as highly air-permeable and does not soak in the rain. Over a year ago, Rukka was the first maker to launch a suit made of this new material, the “Lancelot” high-end suit. Now the Finns expand the line-up with a second, two-part suit specially designed with touring and long distance riders in mind. The new product is also tailored from the Gore-Tex Pro Shell leather laminate and has air-permeable, CE certified body armour. The partially perforated leather is treated with TFL Cool that prevents the laminate from heating up in the sun and makes for a pleasant temperature inside the suit. A removable collar made of elasticized Gore-Tex stretch protects the wearer's neck and chin from wind and weather, and for cool days, the Jacket offers a removable thermal waistcoat. Stretch Gore-Tex inserts on the thighs, behind the knee and under the arms make for optimum wearing comfort. Jacket and trousers can be joined together or with any other Rukka counterpart via a long zipper.
